I see a lot of people on social media reminisce about the good old pineapple doughnuts that were available when they were kids. Occasionally I direct them to Domnuts.com where, after just a little bit of exploration, they can find out where they can get a good pineapple doughnut in Sydney. Many of them say that the Balfours Pineapple Donut is excellent and is a great remake of the old one. So I have been looking for one for a while without success. Until the other day.
They are generally available at service stations. And that is where I found mine.

Sorry, but it was terrible.
The syrup coating had very little pineapple flavour.

The dough was dense and lifeless. It left a bitter aftertaste, which probably means it had been frozen and defrosted.

It was similar to the old ones, but not as delicious.
To those people who love the Balfours Pineapple Donut, good on you. But I can direct you to several better ones in Sydney.
